Barbara A. (Furnary) Taibi, 86, formerly of The Circle, Lewiston NY, peacefully passed away on Monday June 14, 2010 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. She was born on March 7, 1924 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Antonio and Mary (Quarantillo) Furnary.

Barbara was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls and Lewiston area and attended local schools. In her younger years, she worked at Kimberly Clark Corp. in Niagara Falls. On June 19, 1948, she married Anthony Taibi at Sacred Heart Church in Niagara Falls. They would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary this Saturday. A stay-at-home mom, Barbara, or "Mema", as she was affectionately known to all, enjoyed raising her three sons. She later enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her many animal family pets.

In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by her sons Paul Taibi of Niagara Falls, NY and Robert (Maryann) Taibi of Ransomville, NY and was predeceased by one son Richard V. Taibi. She is also survived by her grandchildren Angela, Mary and Lizzy Taibi and Anthony and Maria Taibi; one great grandson Javonni, one sister Antonette (Terry) Lynn of Niagara Falls, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by five sisters Florence (late Anthony) DeSantis, Anna (late Louis) Paella, Angela Gangloff, Rose (late Frank) Edwards, Mary Furnary and one brother Anthony Luciano.

The family will be present on Wednesday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Thursday June 17th at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Peter RC Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY with Rev. Sebastian Pierro officiating. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
