Obituary

Barbara (Newberg) Ziembiec, 66, of Grand Island, NY died on Thursday April 18, 2013 at her residence under the care of Buffalo Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Roland and Betty (Levitch) Newberg.

Barbie as she was known by her family and friends attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School and later from the University of Buffalo where she earned a Master's Degree in Education. On July 6, 1973 she married James Ziembiec in Cheektowaga, NY. Barbara was employed as a teacher by the Lewiston Porter School District and taught third grade at South Elementary School until retiring in 2001 after thirty-two years of service. Barbara was a member of the Buffalo Launch Club for sixteen years. She loved shopping but her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband of thirty nine years, Barbara is survived by two sons Joshua (Charlotte) Ziembiec of Scottsdale, AZ; Adam (Sarah) Ziembiec of Fort Mill, SC and was predeceased by an infant daughter Ashley, twin sister of Adam. She is also survived by one granddaughter Sadie, several nieces and nephews and her loving dog Molson. She was also predeceased by one sister Marcy Dauer.

Visitation will be on Sunday April 21st from 3 – 7 p.m. at the
M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Bob Fink officiating.
