IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bart T.
Derosa, Ret. Capt., Nffd
December 3, 2022
Bart T. DeRosa, 79, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on December 3, 2022 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY, surrounded by his family. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Thomas R. and Isabel A. (Donia) DeRosa.
Bart graduated from Niagara Falls High School. He was employed as a Sawyer with Union Carbide for 10 years. On October 10, 1981, he married Patricia (Ciccarelli) DeRosa, whom he affectionately referred to as "Chickie". After leaving Union Carbide, he found his true passion as a Firefighter with the Niagara Falls Fire Department, where he served for 27 years and retired as a Captain in 2000. "Best job in the world".
Bart was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed fishing, boating, and especially hunting and spending time at his hunting camp in Olean, NY. Bart loved spending time with family and friends, and took great pride in their accomplishments. He was a jack of all trades and a mentor to many. He will be remembered for his generosity and warm heartedness towards others. He would make anyone smile and laugh with his great wit, personality, "infamous greetings" and his sense of humor.
In addition to his wife of 41 years, Bart is survived by his son, Bart C., Capt. NFFD (Katrina) DeRosa, and his daughter, Deborah Gioannini; his grandchildren, Cooper DeRosa, Camryn DeRosa, and Tamara (James) Eggleston; his brother, Thomas R. (Bonnie) DeRosa, his brother-in-law, Patrick (Barrie) Ciccarelli, and sister-in-law, Cynthia Ciccarelli; his nieces and nephews, Douglas DeRosa, Martin DeRosa, Kimberly (Brandon) Turner, Breanna (Brian) Lagomaggiore, Patrick, NFPD (Stefane) Ciccarelli, his great-nieces and nephews, Brittany DeRosa, Lena Lagomaggiore, Cru Turner, and Troy Ciccarelli, as well as several cousins and many close friends, particularly his dearest friend, Louis Antonacci who was by his side always. He was also predeceased by his brother, John B. DeRosa.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 9 from 2 – 3 PM at Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14301, where Bart's Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3 PM.
