Obituary

Bart J. Lavin, 91 of Lewiston, NY passed away on Monday December 7, 2020.  Born November 28, 1929 in New York City, NY, he was the son of the late Bernard and Jennie (Hanley) Lavin.

Bart was raised and educated in New York City.  He was a talented basketball player, earning All City High School honors and later attended St. John's University on an athletic scholarship. Bart proudly served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War.

On October 11, 1963, he married his beloved wife of 57 years, Claudette (Schultheis) Lavin, and together they moved to the Lewiston area in 1977.  Bart was employed as an accounting supervisor at Hooker Chemical Company and afterwards, Parmed Pharmaceutical Company until his retirement. In his leisure time he enjoyed traveling and reading.  Bart was also an accomplished badminton player who competed and medaled in the Senior Empire State Games.

In addition to his loving wife, Bart is survived by his brother-in-law, George (Judy) Schultheis, several nieces and nephews, as well as longtime dear friends, Bill and Chris Lynott.  He was also predeceased by two sisters.

There will be no prior visitation.  Private entombment will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY at the convenience of his family.  If desired, memorial offerings in Bart's memory can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758516 Topeka, Kansas 66675 or www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
