Obituary
Belisena M. Scrufari, 98, of Niagara Falls, passed away on January 16, 2019 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Buffalo, NY on January 24, 1920 she was the daughter of the late Palmerino 'Carmen' and Mercuria 'Mary' (Choppa) LaFalce.
Betty, as she was affectionately known, married Peter P. Scrufari on November 27, 1937 in Buffalo, NY. Mr. Scrufari predeceased her on March 31, 2010. Betty enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and knitting. Most of all, her life centered around her family, whom she greatly cherished.
Belisena is survived by her children, Santo (Charlene) Scrufari, Alice (Louis) Destino, and Anita (Robert) DeFrancesca; grandchildren David (Gina) Centofanti, Betty (John) Hall, Dominic Ronald (Melissa) Centofanti, Russell (Sue) Scrufari, Christopher (Sandy) Scrufari, Deborah (Charles) Heinrich, Brenda Scrufari, Paul (Natalie) Destino, AnnMarie Destino, Zachary (Lisa) DeFrancesca and Catherine (Kevin) Wiles, 25 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, Belisena was predeceased by her daughter Mercuria (Dominic) Centofanti, and her siblings Concetta 'Babe' (late John) Ruggiero, John LaFalce and Leo (late Genevieve 'Jean') LaFalce.
Visitation will be on Sunday, January 20th from 2 – 6 P.M. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin on Monday January 21st at 9:15 A.M. followed by Belisena's Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in Holy Family Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr, Lockport, NY 14094 or St. Vincent De Paul Society, 1298 Main St, Buffalo, NY 14209.
