Benjamin M. Sicoli, 81, of Lewiston, NY died September 18, 2010. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Biagio and the late Rachel Sicoli.
Mr. Sicoli attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1947 where he was an outstanding basketball player who held several area scoring records. On September 27, 1952 he married Mary M. (Massaro) Sicoli at St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls, NY.
Ben served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950 until his honorable discharge in 1952. He was fortunate enough to learn his bricklayer trade while serving in the Army. After his marriage, he became a masonry contractor at the Sicoli Masonry Construction Company. Later he formed the Sicoli and Massaro Inc. General Contractors in Niagara Falls, NY with his family where he has served as vice-president since 1963. Mr. Sicoli is presently associated with Sicoli Construction Services Inc. in Niagara Falls, NY
Ben was a former member of Niagara Frontier Country Club in Youngstown, NY and a current longtime member at Niagara Falls Country Club in Lewiston, NY, former president of the Niagara Falls Lions Club, member of Knights of Columbus Council #247, and former president of the Lew-Port All Sports Boosters Club and a member of the former Century Club. Mr. Sicoli enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife of fifty eight years, Mr. Sicoli is survived by three sons, David M. (Kathryn) Sicoli of Lewiston, NY; Benjamin R. (Denise) Sicoli of Lewiston, NY and Dr. Robert A. (Sharyl) Sicoli of Woodbury, MN; proud grandfather of, Catherine and David Sicoli, Benjamin Jr., Christopher, Alyssa, Ashley, Carly and Zachary Sicoli and Mary and Joseph Sicoli; two brothers; Carmen (late Elizabeth) Sicoli of Niagara Falls, NY; Alfred (Phyllis) Sicoli of Niagara Falls, NY. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one sister Lucy (late Joseph) Bellina.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 7 – 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 3 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will be held on Thursday September 23, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY, with Rev. Sebastian Pierro officiating Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery Niagara Falls, NY.
