Bessie R. Volpe, 87, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on September 29, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her family under the care of Niagara Hospice.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frank R. and Anna Maria (Antonuccio) Certo.

Bessie graduated from Niagara Falls High School.  On April 21, 1956, she married Bruno J. Volpe.  Mr. Volpe predeceased her on August 27, 2017.  She worked as a Railroad Traffic Controller with Hooker Chemical, and later as an Accounting Clerk with Sevenson Environmental.  Most recently, she was employed in Sales and Credit at Jenss and Sample at the Summit Park Mall.  She was a member of the National Association for the Mentally Ill in support of her son Frank.

She enjoyed sewing clothing for her entire family.  She was also an accomplished baker known for her strudel and biscotti. Above all, she will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and sister.

Mrs. Volpe is survived by her children, Joseph Volpe, LouAnn (Douglas) Volpe-White, and MaryBeth (Brian O'Rourke) Safee; her grandchildren, Vincent (Faith) Volpe, Amber Volpe, Anna Volpe, Ashley Wilson, Anthony Volpe, Sherri (Kevin) Guyette, David (Michelle) Heisner, Anndrea Hailey, and Andrew (Kaileigh) Hailey; thirteen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; her siblings, Anthony J. (Patricia) Certo, and Frances Certo, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  In addition to her husband of 61 years, she was predeceased by one son, Frank Volpe, and her siblings, Dominic Certo, Frank Certo and Anna Maria (late Philip) Iamarino.

Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, October 1 at 2 PM in St. Joseph Cemetery, 3806 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY where interment will follow. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute or to Niagara Hospice.  Arrangements by M.J.
