Brett W. McKie, 18, of Sanborn, NY died on Sunday September 8, 2013 in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Wayne F. and Gena R. (Brayley) McKie.

Brett attended Niagara Wheatfield High School and was employed as a cashier at Smokin Joe's in Sanborn, NY. He was an excellent bowler and also enjoyed playing lacrosse. He played on various area teams including Niagara On The Lake, Tuscarora Thunder lacrosse and the championship team the Tonawanda Braves. When he was growing up, he also liked to play hockey. He was awarded numerous scholarships for both his athletic and academic achievements. Brett will be remembered for his unique sense of humor and the many jokes he loved to play on others and for his gift at doing magic tricks. But most of all, Brett loved spending time with his family.

Brett is survived by his paternal grandparents Nick and Louise McKie of Sanborn, NY; his maternal grandparents Pearl General and the late Oscar Moses; one brother Jordan McCarthy of Sanborn, NY; one sister Britney McCarthy of Sanborn, NY and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday September 13th at 11 a.m. at the Tuscarora Indian Mission Church, Walmore Road, Lewiston, NY with Rev. Donald Robinson officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
