Carmela M. Alati, 100, of Lewiston, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2024. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Flora (LaPorta) Butera; and the beloved wife of the late Anthony 'Tony' Alati who she married on May 16, 1953.

Carmela graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1942 with honors and attended the Kelley Business Institute. She began working in 1945 at American Terrazzo Strip Co. in Niagara Falls and later worked at Harrison Radiator as an Administrative Secretary from 1977 until her retirement in 1987.

Carmela was an avid reader and enjoyed completing crossword puzzles, as well as writing editorial letters to the Niagara Gazette. She also loved traveling, shopping, frequenting the Casino and being with her family.

Mrs. Alati is survived by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Diana Butera, Thomas Galbo and Patricia Butera; her caring niece and nephew, Elaine and Michael J. Palumbo, and many other beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Carmela was predeceased by her infant daughter, Mary Ann Alati; her brothers and sister, Charles (late Constance 'Dollye') Butera, Angelo (Patricia) Butera, Albert S. Butera, Valentino (Margaret 'Peggy') Butera, Rose Mary (Thomas) Galbo and Richard A. (Diana) Butera; her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank (late Cecelia) Alati and Sarah (late Dominick) Andreozzi.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 1 from 9:30 – 11:15 AM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin at 11:15 AM, followed by Carmela's Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon in St. Peter's Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY.
