Carmela M. (D'Amico) Basta, beloved wife of the late Lawrence Basta, Sr. entered eternal rest on Friday June 14, 2019 with her loving family by her side. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on May 10, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Emidio and Antonina (Colaprete) D'Amico.

Carmela was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. After graduation from Niagara Falls High School in 1948, she was employed as a secretary for an engineering firm until her marriage to Lawrence Basta, Sr on September 13, 1952. Mr. Basta predeceased her on September 7, 2000.

Carmela was active in her parish of St. Joseph Church serving as a Eucharist Minister and coordinator of the RCIA program. In 1993 she was the recipient of the Religious Educator Award from the Diocese of Buffalo. Her greatest love was to share her Catholic faith with everyone who came into the program.

She is survived by her sons Lawrence, David (Maureen), and Mark (Cathy) Basta. Devoted and loving grandmother to Christina (John) Podlucky, Deborah, Brian, Kevin, Elaina, Eric and Sarah Basta and great granddaughters Rebecca and MacKenzie Podlucky as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband Lawrence, she was predeceased by her brother Joseph D'Amico and sister-in-law Maryann ,daughter-in-law Linda Basta, and grandson Angelo Basta.

Family will be present to receive friends on Monday, June 17th. from 3 - 8 p.m. at the  M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY, 14304. Carmela's Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 18th, at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family Parish at  St. Joseph's Church, 1401 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY.  EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH.  Entombment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.  If desired, donations in Carmela's memory may be made to St. Joseph Outreach, 1402 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14301.
