Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother

Carmela S. (D'Apollo) Campanella 90 of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Monday October 20, 2014 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Adeline (DeLuca) D'Apollo.

Millie as she was affectionately known was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area. She attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. On April 15, 1947 she married Alfonso J. 'Al' Campanella in St. Joseph Church, Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Campanella predeceased her on July 27, 2008. Millie worked as a secretary in Niagara Falls for Niagara Chrysler-Plymouth and afterwards Catholic Charities. Millie's greatest joy was cooking for family gatherings.

Mrs. Campanella is survived by her four daughters, Kathleen (Michael) Agnello of Lewiston, NY; Karen A. (Robert) Collins of Naples, FL; Susan M. (Joseph) Collins of Lewiston, NY and Ann C. (Gary) Giancola of Grand Island, NY; nine grandchildren, Melissa (Matthew) Neil, Jennifer (John) Mezhir, Michael (Bethany)Agnello, Jeffrey Collins, Kelly (Zach) Dreier, Kristen (Andrew) Leardini, Kevin (Jilleen Rickard) Collins, Nicholas Giancola and Mark Giancola, eight great-grandchildren, Kate, Jack and Max Mezhir, Reese and Reghan Dreir, Drew, Luke and Elle Leardini, two brothers Benedict (late Mary) D'Apollo of North Carolina, John (late Joanne) D'Apollo of Lewiston, NY as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by one sister and brother, Genevieve (late Anthony) Carrano and Michael (Shirley of Niagara Falls, NY) D'Apollo.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 3 – 8 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Saturday October 25th 9:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Vincent DePaul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 North Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Andrew Lauricella officiating. Entombment will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls NY.
