Carmela “Connie” Borgese, 92, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Alberta (Certo) Borgese.
Connie graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1952 and went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree from Buffalo State College. For over 33 years, she devoted her life to educating the children of Niagara Falls, with 30 of those years spent as a kindergarten teacher. Her warmth, patience, and gentle guidance left an enduring mark on generations of students.
A woman of deep faith, Connie was a devout Catholic and a longtime parishioner of St. Mary of the Cataract Church, where she served as a trustee, president of the Altar and Rosary Society, and a Eucharistic Minister. Her commitment to service extended far beyond her parish. She volunteered at Artpark, Meals on Wheels, and the Red Cross blood drives for many years.
Connie was a proud member of the international honorary sorority for women educators, Alpha Delta Kappa, as well as the Niagara Falls College Club, Gourmet Club, Monday Club Study Group, and the Tatler Club. Connie was also a longtime member of the Niagara Falls Country Club and enjoyed playing with the “Wednesday Nine league” at Hyde Park Golf Course. She also loved bowling in the ABC Teacher’s League. Above all, Connie cherished every moment spent with her family, finding her greatest joy in their company.
In addition to her parents, Connie was predeceased by her brothers, Candelor “Ken” (late Anna) Borgese, Joseph (late Angie) Borgese, Frank (late Marie) Borgese, Henry Borgese and her infant brother, Francesco Borgese; her sisters, Martha (late Dominic) Previte, Margaret Borgese, Frances (late Peter) Rao and Mary Borgese. She is survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 7 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Connie’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 8 at 10:00 AM in St. Mary of the Cataract Church, 237 4th Street, Niagara Falls, NY 14303.
