Carmella M. (Gentile) Catanese, 94, of Lewiston, NY went home to be with the Lord and reunite with her loving husband, Frank Catanese, on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Carmella (DeMeo) Gentile.


Carmella was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. She graduated from Niagara Falls High School and worked at Walker's Laundry prior to her marriage. On August 1, 1946 she married Frank Catanese at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls. Mr. Catanese was the original owner of the former Mom's Family Restaurant in Niagara Falls, where Carmella enjoyed working alongside of him for many years.


Carmella was a devout Catholic and longtime member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niagara Falls. In her leisure time, she enjoyed going to the casino. Carmella loved children and will be remembered for being so wonderful and caring to all of her family.


Carmella is survived by her daughter Andrea (James) DiNieri of Lewiston, NY; three grandchildren Dana Pasquantino, Lisa (Rick) Pasquantino, Mario (Fran) Pasquantino. She is also survived by four great grandchildren Max Toarmino, Ross Toarmino, Armondo Pasquantino and Chelsea Davis, one sister-in-law Elaine (late Anthony) Catanese and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank, on July 26, 2005 and was also predeceased by six siblings Mary (late John) Ferraro, Sam (late Maude) Gentile, Anna (late Nick) Rizzo, Florence (late Louis) Capizzi, Michael (late Dorothy) Marra and Josephine (late Frank) Williams. She was also predeceased by her grandson Jimmy DiNieri.


There will be no prior visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 31st at 12:30 p.m. at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane R. Klizek officiating. PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH; the family will be present to accept friends between 11:30 A.M. – 12:30 P.M. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
