Obituary

Carmella F. (Macri) Giambattista, 83, of North Tonawanda, NY, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY died on Tuesday March 2, 2010 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Frank and Nicolina (Giacobello) Macri.

Carmella attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1944. On June 4, 1949 she married Armand J. Giambattista at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY. She was employed with Marine Midland Bank, Western Savings and later with M & T Bank in the Commercial Loan Department and retired in the 1980's.

When her children were young Carmella was a Girl Scout leader. Carmella enjoyed assisting seniors as a travel advisor at the John Duke Senior Center in Niagara Falls, NY and also enjoyed traveling with her husband. After her retirement she authored a biography she was proud of which was based on her mother's life. It was instilled from her mother the importance of family as she centered her life on them. Carmella placed the need of her children and grandchildren above her own and she was always there no matter what the circumstances. Her great-grandchildren were an added joy to her already blessed family. Throughout her life, Carmella made many precious friendships that lasted because she was a true friend.

In addition to her husband of over sixty years, Mrs. Giambattista is survived by two daughters Denise (Mark) Kramarz of Niagara Falls, NY and Janine (Dr. James) Moretti of Pittsburgh, PA; seven grandchildren Marja (Joseph) Niccola, Andrea Kramarz, Kevin Kramarz, Jamie (Patrick) Oney, Jacquelyn (Thiago) DeMira, Melissa Moretti and Michael Moretti, four great grandchildren Grace and Dominic DeMira, Joey and Ava Niccola, one sister Anne (late Hugh) Strachan of Niagara Falls, NY; two brothers Samuel (Jane) Macri of Lewiston, NY and Dominic (Lorrettiea) Macri of Wheatfield, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one sister Mary (late Joseph) Montalbo and one brother Joseph (late Carmine) Macri.
