Carmen M. (D`avilla) Rivera, 80, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away Saturday March 10, 2012 at Elderwood Health Care at Crestwood in Wheatfield, NY. Born and educated in Salinas, Puerto Rico she was the daughter of the late Luciano and Edelmira (Rivera) D`avilla.
At the age of eighteen, Carmen moved to Buffalo, NY. She had worked at Birds Eye Foods in Rochester, NY, and after settling in Niagara Falls, NY, the Niagara Hilton, and Scalzo's Restaurant until her retirement. In her leisure, she enjoyed playing bingo and attending GuildCare of Niagara Falls. Most importantly, Carmen enjoyed being with her family and preparing meals to share with them. She will be remembered as a loving person to everyone she met.
Carmen is survived by her five children: Sonia (Samuel) Smith of Oklahoma, John Rivera, Iris (David) Huntoon, Nereida Rivera, and Linda (Anthony) Thompson, all of Niagara Falls, NY, and was predeceased by her daughter, Minerva Rivera. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and was also predeceased by her adopted granddaughter, Katherine Braham.
Visitation will be Tuesday March 13th from 4 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will immediately follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Joseph Denitto, officiating. Private interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers memorials donations may be made to GuildCare Adult Day Health Program - Niagara Falls, 4520 Military Rd. Niagara Falls, New York 14305.
