Carol A. Ardus, 61, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, "her band of angels", at her residence on Saturday August 22, 2009. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of Frances (Salvatore) Bruno and the late Samuel D. (Dorothy)Ardus all of Niagara Falls, NY.
Carol was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and was a graduate of Trott Vocational High School and attended Niagara County Community College. Carol worked at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for over 23 years in various departments, and for the last four years has worked at the Niagara Falls Boys and Girls Club. She was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge 346 in Niagara Falls, NY. Carol also enjoyed camping with her family. She was known for her many crafting talents including scrapbooking and crocheting. Most importantly her life centered on her family; and as the "life of the party" she enjoyed hosting many gatherings for her family during the holidays and other special occasions.
In addition to her parents, Carol is survived by her daughter Frances (Patrick) Nowak, Jr. of Lewiston, NY, her foster daughter Amy (John) Reynolds of Florida; two grandchildren Heather Maines, Patrick Nowak III; four foster grandchildren, Nicholas, Jason, Ender, Lila; three sisters Mary Etta (Dennis) Pysniak, Jennie (Rodney) Rowland, Jerlanda Bruno all of Niagara Falls, NY; her many nieces and nephews, Gina (Richard) Stanton, Christopher Pysniak, Sarina (Peter) Gilmer, Giana Bruno, Elizabeth Bruno, Alana Hernandez, Chelsea Bruno, and Jordan Rowland and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Carol was predeceased by her special "son", Erik Szewczyk.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 7 – 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral service will be held Thursday August 27th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, & Joseph Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th St. and Independence Ave. Niagara Falls, NY. Entombment will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
