Carolyn M. Obaza, 93, of Hegins, PA, formerly of Nanticoke, PA, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Plains Township, PA on March 25, 1926, she was the daughter of Stephen and Caroline (Chabala) Boback.

Carolyn attended local schools and played the clarinet in her high school band. She was an avid crossword puzzle worker, league bowler, Pokeno Club member and occasionally played bingo. She also liked to go to the Casino with her nephew, Ron Boback and play the penny slots when she visited Niagara Falls. Oh and she loved her candy, especially Snickers.

Carolyn worked as a waitress in many restaurants in Nanticoke and later helped her son, David in his business, Nantego Dental in Hughestown, PA. She also held her beautician license.

Carolyn was a member at St. Faustina Roman Catholic Church in Nanticoke, where she served as Eucharistic minister and Altar server.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Paul Nebesky in 1947; her second husband, Carl Obaza 1984; brother, Edward (Stephanie) Boback; son-in-law, David Washburn and infant great-grandson, Michael Tidwell.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Caroline Washburn; son, David (Kathleen) Obaza; dearest cousin, Dolores Roy; and favorite nephew, Ronald Boback. She is also the loving grandmother of Michelle Hughes, Dawn (Steve) Super, Caroline (Terry) Brown, Melinda (Scott) Brydges, Dena (David Palumbo) Obaza, Brandon and Rebecca Obaza; and beloved great-grandmother of Kathrine Hughes, Alexis, Zachary and Nicholas Tulman, Rebecca and Jacqueline Tidwell and Alexis Brydges.

Carolyn's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. in Holy Family Parish at Mt. Carmel Church, 27 ^th Street and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Stewart Lindsay, OSFS officiating. She will be laid to rest in Nanticoke, PA with her husband Carl.
