Caterina (Matteucci) Bartolomei, 95, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away Friday June 10, 2011 surrounded by her loving family while under the loving care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Colle Di Compito Lucca, Italy she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Carola (Martinucci) Matteucci, and she immigrated to the United States in the mid-1930's,

Caterina was an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, and going to the casino. Most importantly, her life centered upon her loving family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bartolomei was predeceased by her husband, Pietro Bartolomei. Survivors include a daughter Josephine (Gabriel) Porto of Wheatfield, NY, two sons Bruno (Paulette) (late Judith) Bartolomei, Sr. and John P. (Maria) Bartolomei, Sr., both of Lewiston, NY. She is also survived by four grandchildren Edward R. (Claudine) Carlo II, Peter (Janine) Carlo, Bruno (Danielle) Bartolomei, Jr., and Lisa Bartolomei-Kelly; and six great-grandchildren Nicholas, Vincent Carlo, Peter John II, Dominic Carlo, Bruno J. Bartolomei, III, and Mason Kelly. Caterina was predeceased by her son Leo Bartolomei, grandson John P. Bartolomei, Jr. and one brother and one sister.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Niagara Hospice for the devoted care given to Caterina.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 – 5 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY RD. NIAGARA FALLS, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday June 13th at 10:00 AM, at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Corner of 27th & Independence Ave., Niagara Falls, NY. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. If desired memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
