Catherine M. 'Kay" (Cutroneo) Calvano, 90, of Grand Island, NY died on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo, NY after a brief illness. Born and educated in Buffalo, NY she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Josephine (Versaci) Cutroneo.

On September 7, 1946 she married Joseph Calvano at Holy Cross Church in Buffalo, NY and together they came to Niagara Falls where they lived until moving to her current home on Grand Island in 1988. Mr. Calvano predeceased her on March 8, 2008. Kay was a founding member of the former Century Club in Niagara Falls. She enjoyed cooking and was an avid reader. She also liked watching television, but most of all Kay's life was centered on her family.

Mrs. Calvano is survived by one sister Sarafine 'Sally' (late John) Orsini of Grand Island, NY and was predeceased by one sister Antoinette (late Salvatore) Liberti. Survivors also include her nieces and nephews Marie Calabrese, Christopher (Pamela) Calvano, Jean (Thomas) Clabeaux, Joann (Jerry) Highway, Joseph (Olga) Liberti, Pasquale (Darlene) Liberti, Peter Liberti
Laurie McGuirk, Virginia (Savino) Nanula, Joseph Orsini,
Pasquale (Vera) Orsini, Shirley (John) Sardina and Philip A. Valore as well as several great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, great great nephews and cousins. She was the sister-in-law of Valentina (late Joe) Valore, Grace (late John) Calvano of Grand Island, NY and Norma (late Julio) Calvano of Niagara Falls, NY.

Friends may call on Friday from 3 – 8 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Saturday May 16th at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen's R.C. Church, 2100 Baseline Road, Grand Island, NY with Rev. Paul Nogaro, OMN officiating. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
