Catherine M. (LaRosa) Certo, 93, of Lewiston, NY passed away on Sunday April 10, 2011 at Elderwood Healthcare at Riverwood in Grand Island, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Stefano 'Stephen' and Anna (Ricco) LaRosa.

Catherine was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area and attended local schools. On January 26, 1946 she married Candelor "Ken" J. Certo at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Certo predeceased her on May 13, 1989. During the 1940's Catherine worked at Bell Aircraft and from the late 1960's until the early 1980's she was employed in the Lingerie Department of the former Bier's Department Store in Niagara Falls. She was a former member of the Progressive Ladies League in Niagara Falls and was actively involved with St. Jude's Shrine in Lewiston. Above all, Catherine's life was centered on her family, and took great pleasure in spending time with them.

Mrs. Certo is survived by her five children, Catherine Certo of Bloomfield, CT; Ann (Robert) Agnello of Grand Island, NY; Alberta (Albert) Hellinger of Orchard Park, NY; Peter John (Mary) Certo of Cheektowaga, NY and Stephen P. (Denise) Certo of Fountainville, PA; fifteen grandchildren, Samantha Munson, Angela (Art) Jocoy, Michele (David) Peterson, Robert (Nicole) Agnello, Mark Agnello, Michael (Jill Bromstead) Hellinger, Catherine (Yancey) Majchrowicz, Amanda Hellinger, Christina (Nicholas) Yeates, Peter Michael Certo, Nicholas J. (Ciara Armell) Certo, Katie Brueckman, Elizabeth (Eric Trznadel) Brueckman, Meghan Certo and Lauren Certo; eight great-grandchildren, David, Jace and Dominic Peterson, A.J. and Amanda Jocoy, Robert Agnello III, Liliana Yeates and Madeline Maciejewski and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Philip (Mary of Lockport, NY) LaRose, Anthony (late Violet) LaRosa and one sister Santina (late Salvatore) Costanzo. Catherine was the sister-in-law of, Elizabeth (Robert) Pfleger of Niagara Falls, NY; Mary Rolle of Lewiston, NY; Hon. Anthony J. (Rita) Certo of Port St. Lucie, FL and the late Margaret (late Frank) Sirianni (late Palmer) Sirianni; Albert (Josephine of Niagara Falls, NY) Certo and Henry "Andrea" (Natalie of Niagara Falls, NY) Certo.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday April 15th at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter's Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY with Rev. Sebastian Pierro officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association of WNY, 2805 Wehrle Drive, Ste. 6, Williamsville, NY 14221 or to a charity of one's choice.
