Catherine "Kitty" (Lengemann) Giunta, 86, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Sunday December 26, 2010 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born in Brooklyn, NY she was the daughter of the late William and Dorothea (Wolter) Lengemann.
Catherine married Bruno Giunta on June 17, 1945 and was predeceased by him on May 6, 1969. She was employed as a banquet waitress at the Hilton Hotel in Niagara Falls, NY, working alongside her dear friend, Shirley Casale for over twenty years. She also worked at the former Kimberly Clark Corp. and as a crossing guard at the former 66th Street Elementary School where everyone knew her as Kitty. Kitty was a member of the Silver Sneakers exercise program for seniors at the Summit Medical Complex in Wheatfield, NY. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing Jingo.
Mrs. Giunta is survived by two children Patti Walsh of Niagara Falls, NY and Thomas Giunta of Annapolis, MD; four grandchildren Christina Walsh, John Giunta, Caitlin Giunta and Mark Walsh, one brother Fred (Jo) Lengemann of Rome, PA; one sister Helen Groves of DeLancey, NY; two sister-in-laws, Josephine (late Phillip) Catanese of Niagara Falls, NY, and Marie (Serge) Massolin of Niagara Falls, Ont.,several nieces, nephews, cousins and her beloved cat Boo Boo.
Friends may call on Wednesday December 29th from 4 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where services will follow at 8 p.m. with Robert Fink officiating. Interment at the convenience of the family will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association of WNY, 2805 Wehrle Drive Suite 6, Williamsville, NY 14221.
