Catherine M. 'Kay' Leta, 99, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Wednesday May 22, 2013 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Plati, Calabria, Italy she was the daughter of the late Peter and Rose (Cutri) Calipari.

Kay, as she was known to her friends and family, came to Massena, NY with her family and later moved to Niagara Falls, NY. She attended local schools and graduated from the Cosmetology Program at the former Trott Vocational High School. On April 17, 1948 Catherine married Joseph S. Leta at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY. He predeceased her on July 21, 1995. Kay owned and operated Kay's Beauty Shop located in Niagara Falls, NY for over 30 years. She was a member of the St. Joseph's Church Senior Society, Mt. Carmel Church Senior Society and also Volunteered at Artpark as an usher. Kay was an avid shopper and took great pride in her position as a beautician. Above all, her life was centered around her loving family.

Catherine is survived by her son Dr. Philip J, (Joanne) Leta, D.D.S of Niagara Falls, NY; two grandchildren Joseph A. (Casey) Leta and Christina M. Leta; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Catherine was predeceased by her three brothers Joseph (late Hazel) Calipari, Patsy (late Mary) Calipari, Frank (late Rose) Calipari. She was also predeceased by her three sisters, Elizabeth 'Betty' (late Joseph) Mittiga, Marion (late Augie) Moceri and Rose ( late Michael) Ragusa.

Visitation will be held Friday May 24th from 4 – 8:00 P.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road Niagara Falls, NY where funeral services will follow on Saturday May 25th at 9:15 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at Mt. Carmel Church 27th Street and Independence Ave. Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane Klizek officiating.
