Obituary

Catherine M. Nicol, 83, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away at her residence on Friday, October 17, 2014. Born in Aberdeen, Scotland she was the daughter of the late George and Alice Miller.

On October 22, 1952, she married Cyril "Nicky" Nicol in Aberdeen, Scotland. Together they moved to Niagara Falls, NY in 1953 where she has continued to live until the present time. Mr. Nicol predeceased her on February 13, 2008. Catherine enjoyed spending time with her dear friends at the Canadian Legion #51 in Ontario, Canada, where her husband had belonged to for many years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She also loved to dance and travel, but most of all, Catherine enjoyed spending time with her loving family.

Catherine is survived by her three children, Greg Nicol of Niagara Falls, NY, Diane (Dennis) Leavitt of Portville, NY and Jennier Putaski of Niagara Falls, NY; five grandchildren, Nicole (Daniel) Coletti, Katie (CJ Stead) Leavitt, Nicholas (Kate) Putaski, Lauren (Glenn) Spencer and Mark (Quinn) Putaski; her great-grandchildren, Cameron Laborde, Gia Coletti, Jaidyn Coletti, Michael Spencer and Dominic Putaski. She is also survived by her sister Elizabeth (Derek) McKenzie, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Catherine was predeceased by one sister, Jenny (late Andrew) Mcclelland and one brother, Joseph Miller.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd from 4 – 8:00 p.m. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Niagara County SPCA, 2100 Lockport Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304.
