Obituary

Cecilia (Quaglia) Bierman, 97, of Lewiston, NY died on Monday April 13, 2009 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Antonio Quaglia and Angiolina (Ranalli) Mayflower and step daughter of the late Marion Mayflower.

Cecilia came to Niagara Falls, NY as a child with her family in the early 1920's. She attended local schools and was employed as a bookkeeper at the former Simon Oil Company in Niagara Falls. Cecelia relocated to Torrance, CA where she owned and operated children's clothing stores including the Tick Tock Children's Shop, and also owned two apartment complexes. In 1964 she married Michael Bierman in California and together they returned to Niagara Falls in the late 1960's. Mr. Bierman predeceased her on March 8, 1988. Cecilia was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls Sodality of Mary Society. She loved traveling, having traveled around the world three times, but most of all, Cecilia's life centered around her family.

Cecilia is survived by one sister Elaine (late Anthony) Catanese of Lewiston, NY and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by two brothers and two sisters Mario (late Florence) Quaglia, Norma Perez, Bernard (Mary of Niagara Falls, NY) Mayflower and Stella (late John) Orynawka.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI AND SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday April 23rd at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane Klizek officiating. EVERYONE WILL ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the L'Aquila, Abruzzo, Italy earthquake relief efforts; c/o Sons of Italy in America, 219 East Street NE, Washington, DC 20002 or visit www.osia.org.
