Cesare A. Svizzero, 99, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on May 22, 2020 at Buffalo General Hospital.  Born in Prezza, Abruzzo, Italy, he was the son of the late Francesco and Eufrazia (Spacone) Svizzero.

Cesare served in the Engineering Division of the Italian Army during World War II, serving in Libya, and was a prisoner of war in England in 1942.  After his military service, in 1947, he emigrated to Venezuela, and later to Canada.  In 1953, he married Lucia (Spadorcia) Svizzero at St. Ann's Church in Niagara Falls, Ontario.  Together, they came to Niagara Falls, NY in 1953 to raise their family.

Cesare was employed as a bricklayer with Local #3 and also worked at Union Carbide, retiring in 1985.  He then continued to work as a bricklayer for the New York State Parks until the age of 90.   He was a member of the Cristoforo Colombo Society.  He enjoyed golfing, bowling in local leagues, driving, and above all, spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife of 67 years, Cesare is survived by his daughter, Linda (Frank) Laratta; grandchildren, Nick (Laura) Laratta, Daniele (Susie) Laratta, Francesco (Daniella) Laratta; great grandchildren Olivia Lucia, Tiago, Jordano, Isabella, Milo, and Chiara Laratta, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws in the United States, Canada, Italy and Australia.  He was predeceased by his daughter, Anna Svizzero, as well as his siblings, Sabatino (late Antonia), Paolo (late Assunta), Elena, and Antonia (late Donato).
