Charles J. Alaimo, 89, of Grand Island, NY, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late John and Angela (Cirrito) Alaimo.
Charles served in the U.S. Navy during World War 2 in the Pacific Theater until his honorable discharge on June 25, 1946. He worked in the shipping and receiving department of Consolidated Freightways in Tonawanda, NY. Charles was a member of the Ken-Ton YMCA and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees.
Charles is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Marilyn J. (Scapucci) Alaimo; two sons, Robert J. (Kelli) Alaimo and Michael C. Alaimo and was predeceased by two sons, Mark C. Alaimo and Richard J. Alaimo. He is also survived by two grandchildren, MSgt. Krystalore, USAF (MSgt. Russell, US Army) Crews, and Earl J. (Jamie) Stegner; three great-grandchildren, Emma Stegner, Eliana Stegner and Ava Crews, nieces and nephews, Joanne Roscetti, Ronald Roscetti, Debbie Alaimo, Michael Alaimo, great-nephew, Cole Snell, USAF and many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Lena Alaimo and Mary (late Dominick) Roscetti and three brothers, James (late Marge) Alaimo, Michaelangelo (Antoinette) Alaimo and Joseph Alaimo.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 3 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, February 17th at 12 Noon at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY with Military Honors.
