Obituary
Charles Burgio, 90, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2018 after a brief illness. Born on April 22, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late, Salvatore and Filomena Burgio. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Vicki (D'Aloisio) Burgio; three daughters, Rochelle (Lou) Marino of Uniontown, Ohio, Dr. Phyllis Burgio of Williamsville, NY and Patricia Burgio of Los Angeles, CA, and two grandchildren, Justin Charles Marino (Shaun) of Orlando, FL and Erin Alyse Marino of
Los Angeles, CA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by one brother, Mario (Mary of Florida) Burgio.
Mr. Burgio retired from the United States Post Office after serving 33 years as a Special Delivery Messenger. He served as President of Cataract Lodge #240 ISDA, President of the Cataract Lodge #240 Federal Credit Union and President of the Niagara Frontier Federal Employees Credit Union. He also served in the United States Army 196th Regimental Combat Team during the Korean War from 1950 until his honorable discharge in 1952. He was a member of the National Association of the Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) and secretary of the Italian American War Veterans. Charlie's greatest love was spending time with his family. He had a great love for the outdoors, took great pride in maintaining a well-manicured lawn. Charlie enjoyed meeting "the guys" for a walk and coffee every week.
There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, May 5th at 10:30 A.M. in St. Vincent DePaul Parish at St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Road, Town of Niagara, NY. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery with Military Honors. Arrangements by M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY.
