Obituary

Our beloved Charles M. Saloh passed away on Tuesday, March 1 at Buffalo General Hospital after a lengthy illness.  Born and raised in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late Albert and Mary (Dickens) Saloh.

Charles attended local schools graduating from LaSalle High School.  His family owned Saloh's grocery store for over 40 years.  He was known by all as Little Sheik and Chuckie G to his friends at Dupont, in Niagara Falls, where he was employed for 28 years after serving our country in the Vietnam War 4th Infantry division from 1965 to 1967.  Charles was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Combat Infantryman Badge.

He was an avid baseball and football player in his teens, winning many awards for his outstanding achievements.

He lived his life to the fullest, loved the horses and shooting craps with his buddies.  Charlie had many friends including Mello and Johnny M but mostly enjoyed sitting on his buddies porch the late Bobby Gravanti talking about the old days.  The stories they told and how they made everyone laugh and cry.  Most of all he loved his dogs the late Oliver and his beloved Little Sheikie his yellow lab who has been by his side until his hospitalization.

Charles leaves behind the love of his life Linda (his Peachadia) he called her from day one, her family Mama Lydia

Cristiano, Louis (Toni) Spacone Jr., Tom Spacone (Amber)of Peoria, Arizona, Linda's son Anthony Hans M.D. (Kristen) of Pittsford, New York and Benjamin and Amelia Hans who were like his grandchildren.  He loved his extended family as well as they loved him.  He was also predeceased by his aunts, uncles and cousins.

Well, my Charlie I will miss your stubbornness, telling me only go to Federal Meat Market for the meat, did you wash your hands fifty times a day and me telling you lower the tv but most of all I will just plain miss you and love you.

But most of all you always being there for me. What a pair we were. You will be in my heart forever.

I want to thank all who have been there for Charlie especially Chu Chu you went above and beyond to help him in his final days.  Thank you to all my friends and neighbors who have been there for me during this time.  A special thank you to the firefighters and crew of Bollier Avenue for the countless times they have come to the house.  Also, I want to thank the ICU at Memorial his physicians and nurses who worked tirelessly and finally the critical care staff at Buffalo General hospital. Thank you all. We all are forever grateful but most of all our beloved Charlie is no longer suffering and now at peace.  You fought till the end and we are all so proud.
