Cheryl M. Zito, 68, of Grand Island, NY, passed away on August 14, 2026, at McAuley Residence in Kenmore, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of Jacqulyn A. (Dalesandro) and the late James A. Teoli.

Cheryl graduated from Niagara Falls High School and received her Associate’s Degree from Niagara County Community College. On September 1, 1979, she married Joseph R. Zito at St. Joseph Church. Cheryl was employed at Moore Business Forms during the 1980s as a sales control secretary, and later with the Grand Island Highway Department as the Highway Supervisor’s Secretary for 24 years, retiring in 2022.

Cheryl volunteered with SPCA Paws for Love, visiting colleges, nursing homes, and the airport. She enjoyed cooking in honor of special family recipes, and hosting for the holidays. Cheryl lovingly sewed dresses, Halloween costumes, blankets, and pillows for her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time in her yard landscaping and loved shopping. She especially loved planning family outings and events and centering her life around her family.

In addition to her husband, Cheryl is survived by her children, Nikki (Michael) Hattersley and Erik (Joanna) Zito; grandchildren, Alexander J. Hattersley, Audrey J. Hattersley, Aliyah R. Zito, and Atlas J. Zito; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Mark A. (Kimberly) Teoli.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 19, from 9–10 AM at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph's Church 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14301, where Cheryl’s Celebration of Life Mass will begin at 10:00 AM.
