Obituary

Chester Judd, 77, of the Town of Niagara, NY passed away following a short illness on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, NY. Born in the Provence of Quebec, Canada he was the son of the late Levi and Florence (Wilson) Judd.

Chester moved from Niagara Falls, Ontario to Youngstown, NY with his family in 1954. He joined the US military in January 1955 and following completion of his active duty became a US citizen in November 1958. During the Korean War he served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Spiegel Grove (LSD-32) and was honorably discharge from the USNR on January 29, 1963. Chester was proudly employed as an ironworker through the Iron Workers Union Local No. 9 in Niagara Falls, NY for thirty-four years until his retirement in 1994. He enjoyed memberships in the Lower Niagara Moose Lodge and the LaSalle Sportsman's Club. Chester was an avid boater and also enjoyed undertaking auto restoration and steel fabrication jobs. He also had a love for animals and was a skilled handyman able to do a wide range of construction and repair projects. Above all, Chester will be remembered as a very kind and gentle family man.

Mr. Judd is survived by his wife Patricia (Kerins) Judd, two children, Mark (Amy) Judd of Buffalo, NY and Cheryl Judd of Newfane, NY; three step-children, Kelly Burling of the Town of Niagara, NY, Lisa Fortuna of Niagara Falls, NY and David Tompkins of Buffalo, NY; nine grandchildren, Levi Judd, Marissa (Chris) Huntsman, Christina Doroto, Robert Doroto, Delana Doroto, Dale Miller, Daniel Miller, Jessica Burling, Danielle (Nick) Lickers and Joe Fortuna; five great-grandchildren, Carissa, Christopher, Tyler, Gina Marie and Santino, one sister, Lillian Nasca of the Town of Niagara, NY, two brothers James "Dee Dee" Judd of Niagara Falls, Ontario and Alfred "Sonny" (Carol) Judd of Fairbanks, PA as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by three siblings, Margaret Jahns, George Judd and June Judd.

Visitation will be on Saturday, February 7th from 12 noon – 3 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m. with Rev. Robert Stolinski officiating, concluding with Military Honors.
