Colleen A. Maloney, 55, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away with her family at her side Monday June 18, 2012 at Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of Barbara (Boucher) Vogel of Niagara Falls, NY and the late Earl Maloney.
Colleen was raised and educated in Niagara Falls, NY. She later attended Niagara County Community College in Sanborn, NY and graduated in 1987 as a Registered Nurse. She began working at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center in the ICU Department and more recently in the Emergency Room until retiring because of illness. Colleen enjoyed her line of work and dedicated her life to nursing and touched several lives. Through the years she enhanced her knowledge and skills as she continued her nursing education. Colleen enjoyed traveling, golfing and going to the casino. She was an avid collector of fine gem stones and jewelry but most important to Colleen was her family, who she centered her life around.
In addition to her mother, Colleen is survived by her loving daughter Rachel (Nate Shavalier) Rossi of Niagara Falls, NY; loving companion Thomas Altobello of Niagara Falls, NY; one brother and two sisters, Earl (Jeannie) Maloney of South Carolina, Kathleen (David) Newton of Appleton, NY and Janyce Maloney of Niagara Falls, NY. She was the niece of Larry (Sylvia) Maloney of California, Jim (Wendy) Maloney of Grand Island, NY and Boyd (Chris) Clark of Niagara Falls, NY. She is also survived by one niece and five nephews, Erik , David H. Newton and Karl (Megan Seward) Newton, Joseph and Mary Maloney and Christopher Butts; one great niece and two great nephews David E. Newton, Christabella Butts and Reilly Newton as well as all her dear friends at Judi's Lounge. In addition to her father she was predeceased by her two uncles Ed (Marlene of Niagara Falls, NY) Clark and Jack (Garnet of Ohio) Maloney.
Visitation will begin Friday from 3 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where a funeral service will be held Saturday June 23rd at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. O. Lee Holiday officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
