Cynthia "Cindy" Toth, 68, of Buffalo, NY, formerly of Newport, RI and Pound Ridge, NY, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, at her residence following a courageous 15‑year battle with cancer. Born in Ridgewood, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Marie (Schatmeyer) Toth.
Cindy was a graduate of Hawthorne High School in New Jersey and later attended Wilfred Beauty Academy and the Lancôme Institute in New York City, where she studied to become an esthetician. She went on to work for prestigious institutions in New York City and Connecticut before becoming the Innkeeper at the Victorian Ladies Bed & Breakfast in Newport, RI where she worked for over a decade.
Cindy loved her work in both hospitality and beauty and was a devoted makeup artist and skincare practitioner. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, fashion, antiquing, and keeping a beautifully tended home. Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her family—especially her daughter, son‑in‑law, and grandchildren. She will be remembered most for her kindheartedness, loving nature, and remarkable strength.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen "Kate" M. (John "Jack" L., III) Hurley; her grandchildren, John L. Hurley IV and Grace L. Hurley; her siblings, Faye (John) Marcklinger, Theodore "Teddy" Toth, and Rebecca "Becky" (Jeff) Taylor; her dear friend, Bob Stepp; and her beloved dog, Sammie. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Emory Winship Cancer Center, ECMC Jonas Center and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center for the compassionate care shown to Cindy.
Cindy was looking forward to a bucket‑list trip her daughter had planned for her to Paris and Amsterdam in the Spring of 2026 to visit their family's roots and admire the tulips in peak season. Instead, her family will bring the tulips to her and celebrate her life at a memorial gathering at the Garret Club, 91 Cleveland Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14222 on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at from 11:30 AM - 2:00 PM, where her family will share thoughts and remembrances at 12 Noon. Private entombment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Tonawanda, NY will be held at the convenience of the family.
If desired, memorial offerings may be made to The National Westie Rescue. Arrangements by M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel. Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
