Obituary

One more bright star shines in the sky today. Daisy Sarah (Mokhiber) Fadel, 86, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Thursday March 17, 2011. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Simon and Malakie (Moukheiber) Mokhiber.

Daisy attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1943, and began working as a teller at the former Marine Trust Bank. After the love of her life, Roy Fadel returned home from service to our country during World War II, they became engaged, and on June 8, 1947 they were married at St. George Orthodox Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Together they set up a household and brought four children into the world. A relatively quiet woman, Daisy took great pride in maintaining a sound Orthodox Christian home and involved herself in her children's school and community activities. She followed the creed of "Family First", and shared with her daughters her talent to knit, crochet, and bake Lebanese food and pastries. Her son, William, acquired her kindness and determination. Their love of family was with deep affection. Daisy and Roy's dedication to being involved in community service was great, and became even greater following the death of their son William in 1982. As a volunteer at Memorial Hospital, Roy encouraged Daisy to knit and crochet hats to be used in the maternity department. They were also members of the St. George Seniors Club, assisted the Retired Men's Service Organizations at the Festival of Lights, and bowled in various senior leagues. Mr. Fadel predeceased her on June 18, 2005.

Mrs. Fadel is survived by three daughters Jacquelyn Fadel of Niagara Falls, NY; Joan Fadel Mamey of Glendale, CA and Gayle Fadel of Niagara Falls, NY and was predeceased by one son William (Anne DiFrancesco Fadel of Lewiston, NY) Fadel. She is also survived by four granddaughters Joanna Mamey, Jessica Mamey, Jillian Mamey and Joy Mamey, two sisters Najla Mokhiber of Niagara Falls, NY and Edith Mokhiber Johnstone of Lewiston, NY and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers Morris (late Angele) Mokhiber and Annis (late Barbara) Mokhiber and three sisters Nellie Mokhiber, Catherine (late Charles) Elias and Anourine (late Robert) Fadel. Daisy was the sister-in-law of Charlotte (late Gordon) Shahin of Washington, D.C.; Esther Fadel of Niagara Falls, NY and the late Dorothy (late Sam) Habib, Delores (late Ernest) Fadel, Agnes (Bruno of Grand Island, NY) Moretti; Happy (late Jane) (late Viola) Fadel and Raymond (late Mary) Fadel.
