Dalia DeSimone, 90, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at O.L.P Nursing Care Residence. Born in Abruzzo, Italy, she was the loving daughter of Pasquale and Anita Giandomenico.

Dalia was raised and educated in Italy. She immigrated to the United States in 1947 and married her beloved husband, Olderico "Rico" DeSimone, on September 8, 1951. Mr. DeSimone passed away on July 21, 1986 after 35 memorable years together.

Dalia was employed at Latina's Food Market, and the former Columbia Markets and Peppo's Market. She later was employed at Carborundom Company, the rectory of Mt. Carmel Church, and Mt. St. Mary's Hospital as a seamstress for many years until her retirement in the early 1990's.

Dalia was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, as well as the parish's Altar and Rosary Society, Women's Guild, the Social Lite and Senior Group. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Cristoforo Colombo Society, Madonna Del Soccorso Society, and Club Italia in Niagara Falls, Ontario.  She enjoyed entertaining her family and friends, was an excellent cook and will be greatly remembered for her famous Italian sponge cakes. Above all, Dalia's life was centered around her family who she loved dearly.

Mrs. DeSimone is survived by her children, Diane D. (James) Fire and Patsy (Mary Ann) DeSimone; grandchildren, Luciana (Alfonse) Muto, Samuel (Gretchen) Fire, Nicholas DeSimone, Deanna (Dylan) DeSimone-Cummings; her great-grandchildren, Dylan, Jackson, Kaylee Cummings, Gianna, Samuel and Alexander Fire, and Ariana and Alessia Muto; her brother, Varso (late Bridgette) Giandomenico; her best friend, Bernice DiNunzio; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings, Venilia (late Tomas) Giandomenico-Marquz and Emilio Giandomenico.

Dalia's family would like to thank the nursing staff of O.L.P Nursing Care Residence ("Memory Unit" First Floor of the West Wing) for the loving care given to Dalia.

Visitation will be on Sunday, March 24 ^th from 3 – 7 P.M. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Dalia's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 A.M. in Holy Family Parish at Mt. Carmel Church, Independence Avenue and 27th Street, Niagara Falls, NY. Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery will follow. Memorial offerings in Dalia's name may be made to O.L.P Nursing Care Residence (First Floor of the West Wing), 5285 Lewiston Road, Lewiston, NY.
