Daniel J. Leone Sr, 86 of Lewiston, NY passed away on April 4, 2018 at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of late, Daniel and Lena (Moscati) Leone.

Daniel was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area.  He attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1949. Afterwards he attended Cortland University and the University of Detroit.  He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Wasp from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1955, and was awarded the National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Navy Occupation Medal. On June 21, 1958, he married Miriam E. (Sciarrino) Leone in St. Mary of the Cataract Church in Niagara Falls. Daniel began his career working on the New York State Power Project.  He went on to work for Albert Elia Construction and later as a superintendent for Sevenson Environmental Services, Inc. for over fifty years until his retirement.

Daniel was a sports enthusiast and avid football, baseball and hockey fan.  He especially loved the Buffalo Bills, New York Yankees and Buffalo Sabres.  He was an enthusiastic supporter of all his grandchildren's endeavors. Daniel was a long time active member of St. Raphael's Parish in Niagara Falls where he also served as an usher, Parish Council and Men's Club member.  He was one of the founders of the Whirlpool Park Little League and also served as their past president and board member.  Daniel was a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council.  In his leisure time he enjoyed gardening, socializing with his friends and in his younger years competing in 5K Runs.

In addition to his beloved wife of 59 years, Daniel is survived by his three children, Maralynn E. (Sabatino "Sam") Giancola, Daniel J. (Laura) Leone, Jr. and Michael J. (Renee) Leone, seven grandchildren, Teresa E. (Christopher) Niver, Daniel "DJ" (Ashley) Giancola, Dalton D. Leone, Cameron P. Leone, Jamie E. Leone, Samantha M. Leone and Mackenzie A. Leone, two great-grandchildren, Gianna M. and Adrianna E. Giancola, one sister, Mary Paula (late Joseph) Ganci, his sister-in-law, Sister Maralynn Sciarrino, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3-8 p.m. at M.J.
