Daniel Paterson, 70, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 15, 2020. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late Harold and Angela Paterson; and beloved husband of Ellen Rae (Bieniek) Paterson, who he married on November 17, 1994.
Dan was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls and a graduate of Bishop Duffy High School. He enlisted into the United States Army in January of 1968, and was stationed in Vietnam with the 15th Service and Supply Battalion, of the First Cavalry Division. Following special training, he received a citation for being one of the top seven men in his outfit and was promoted to the rank of corporal. Daniel was Honorably Discharged as a Sergeant in 1970 and was awarded the Purple Heart.
In 1994, Dan became an Ordained Minister in the Universal Life Church. He was also an Eagle Scout and an avid fisherman. In addition, he was a talented musician and enjoyed playing various instruments, especially the guitar.
Above all, he devoted his life to his wife and son, and made sure they were always his first priority.
Along with his wife of 25 years, he is survived by his son Daniel John "DJ" Paterson; two siblings, Harold (late Carol) Paterson and Patricia (Bob) Restivo, nephew Aaron Paterson, nieces Tiffany (Paterson) Russ, Amber Dupuis, Antonia (Dupuis) Paynter, and April Paterson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, September 14 at 10 A.M. in St. Vincent De Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Road. Interment will follow in N.F. Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors to conclude. Memorial offerings may be made to the Disabled Veterans of America at dav.org . Arrangements by M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL.
