David B. Montanari, 68, of Pendleton, NY, passed away on May 5, 2026 at his home. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Dominic L. and Margaret (Harvey) Montanari.
David was a 1977 graduate of Starpoint High School. He later attended Niagara County Community College and Buffalo State College. On June 12, 1982, he married the love of his life, Mary Lou (Kolber) Montanari at St. Mary’s Church in Lockport, NY. They built a beautiful life of 43 blessed years together.
David was employed for many years with Sadlo Lumber in Pendleton, where his carpentry skills flourished. He then worked as a cabinet maker at Paragon Forming in North Tonawanda, and most recently as a Plumbing Specialist at Lowe’s in Amherst.
Above all else, David cherished his family, especially his grandchildren and loved performing magic tricks for them. David enjoyed wine making, woodworking, fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors. He was a proud supporter of many organizations who enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities. Though he faced many health challenges, he met them with strength and dignity, always putting others first.
In addition to his beloved wife, Mary Lou, David was a dedicated father to his children, Sara (Christian) Arcese and Mark Montanari; loving grandfather of Owen and Emilia Arcese who were his joy; his siblings, Charles (Denise) Montanari, Mark (Sherry) Montanari, Matthew (Tammy) Montanari, Lisa (Michael) Davis, and Greg (Stacey) Montanari. In addition to his siblings, David was a cherished member of the Kolber Family and was loved by many. He is also survived by his uncle and aunt, Richard (Nancy) Montanari; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Alan Montanari.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 8, from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. David’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 9, at 10 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 4671 Townline Road, Ransomville, NY 14131. Interment in Wheatfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Wendelville Fire Company for their dedicated service to the family and their community, 7340 Campbell Boulevard, North Tonawanda, NY 14120.
