Obituary

On Friday, June 5, 2026, David E. Holland Sr. passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side after a seven-year battle with cancer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Edith O. Holland; his children, Sandy M. Parker, David E. Holland Jr. (Tiffin A. Holland), and Melissa A. Vining (Earl Vining); and his grandchildren, Ricky Parker, Adriyanna Holland, Reina Parker, and Melea Vining.

David dedicated his life to serving others. He honorably served 27 years in the United States Army, including service during the Vietnam War, and traveled the world while raising his family abroad. Following his retirement from the Army, David continued his commitment to public service for 23 years as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service in Amherst, New York. Known to many as “Sarge,” he concluded more than 50 years of service to his country, community, and fellow man.

While he was proud of his service, his greatest pride was his family. He cherished time spent with those he loved and took great joy in the strong family he built alongside his wife through their love, guidance, and steadfast values. An avid fisherman, he spent countless moments casting a line and sharing his love of fishing with family and friends.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who offered prayers, support, and kindness throughout David’s journey.

A private military burial will be held in Western New York VA Cemetery. No formal services or gatherings are planned. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to WNY Heroes, https://wnyheroes.org/get-involved/donate/.  Arrangements By M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel.
