Obituary

David A. Matsulavage of Newfane, NY, passed away at his residence unexpectedly on Sunday, November 13, 2016. He was 53 years old. David is survived by his loving & cherished wife SueEllen whom he married on May 24th, 1986, and shared 30 years of beautiful marriage, fathering four outstanding & beloved sons Zachary, Jarad, Aaron, & Matthew, and playing with his beautiful granddaughter Neveah. He leaves behind many loving family & friends' chief of whom are his proud father David, loving mother Evelyn, dear sister Karen (John), younger brother Joseph (Melissa), brother-in-law Larry Coleman (Diana), and sister-in-law Rebecca Coleman. David is also predeceased by loving father-in-law and mother-in-law Russell & Mildred Coleman. David will be dearly missed by numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, & nephews whom he each touched in a special light with guidance, wisdom, laughter, & a lifetime of memories.

David was a veteran of the United States Air Force and honorably discharged in 1988 at the rank of sergeant after four years of proud service to his country. His example of service and dedication to duty to his country helped to shape and mold his third son, SPC. Aaron Matsulavage, to carry on his father's proud military record as a medic with the U.S. Army.

David was a 1980 graduate of the former LaSalle High School in Niagara Falls, NY, and would later go on to earn a Bachelor's in Engineering Science from Empire State College of New York, then serving many proud years as a senior instrumentation & automation engineer, a profession with which he carried out with unbounded pride & professionalism serving many fine engineering institutions throughout the greater Western New York region. As a highly regarded member of the International Society of Automation Engineers his most recent & longest standing achievements in the field were carried out as an engineering consultant for Occidental Chemical Corp. which along with his outstanding and determined coworkers & contractors fueled his passion and expertise in a field he loved working and creating lifelong connections through.
David was an avid sportsman and life member of the National Rifle Association enjoying every moment he could in the wilderness enjoying countless activities from hunting & fishing to gardening & camping. He loved walks with his wife and their dogs Brooklyn and Bear. These passions he shared greatly with his sons along with many of their own the least of which was his love of football & devotion to his historic team the Green Bay Packers.

David's proud achievements & cherished life moments will be shared and remembered with numerous family members & great friends with services to be held at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Visitation & reflection will be held on Tuesday, November 22nd from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM. Catholic services will be held on Wednesday, November 23rd being at 10:15 AM at St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, followed by a precession with the Patriot Guard with David being entered to rest at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Lewiston with Air Force Military Honors.

David's family graciously declines flowers for services but do encourage that visitors & family members donate to a variety of charities that will be displayed during visitation times.
David will be dearly missed but would wish that his memories to countless friends & family be joyful, plentiful, & proud to have known such a wonderful individual who meant the world to many. He will be missed by many, but loved by all.
