David C. Washburn, 69 of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on June 1, 2016 at Buffalo General Hospital. Born in Oneida, NY he was the son of the late Theodore and Mary (Magliocca) Washburn.
David moved to the Niagara Falls area with his family in the early 1950's. He attended local schools and graduated from Niagara County Community College. On June 15, 1991, he married Caroline L. (Nebsky) Washburn. David worked as a credit manager for several area companies and retired from Modern Disposal Corporation. For many years he also worked as a security officer at several local venues, and was most notably known as the 'Peace Keeper' at Cruisers Bar. David was an outstanding athlete in high school and was inducted into the Niagara Wheatfield Sports Hall of Fame. He was passionate about exercising and especially enjoyed taking long walks along the Niagara River with his beloved dog, Harry. David was also a member of the NRA, a Chevrolet Corvette fanatic and had a love for animals, as well as oldies music and television. He also enjoyed his annual Fathers Day bologna steak sandwich at Old Man River Restaurant.
In addition to his beloved wife of 25 years, he is survived by his children, Terry (Cheryl) Vollmer of Tonawanda, Melinda (Scott) Brydges of Sanborn, his step-children, Michelle Hughes of Lockport, Dawn (Steve) Super of California and Caroline Tidwell of Florida. He was the grandfather of, Alexis Brydges, Catherine Hughes, Alexis, Zachary and Nicholas Tulman, Rebecca and Jacqueline Tidwell and late Michael Tidwell, brother of, Ted (Connie) Washburn of Wheatfield and Michele (David) Wallace of Atlanta. He is also survived by one aunt, Jeanette Sikkas and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 27th Street and Independence Ave. Niagara Falls. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or Outreach Pantry of Holy Family Parish.
