Delmar D. Harrington, 80, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Thursday January 13, 2011 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Clearfield, PA he was the son of the late John B. and Emma Harrington.

Delmar was educated in Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from August 24, 1950 until his honorable discharge on June 21, 1954 and was awarded a National Defense Service Medal and a Good conduct Medal. On June 24, 1954 he married Margaret M. Harrington in Cumberland, MD and together they came to the Niagara Falls area where he lived until the present time. Delmar was employed at the former International Paper Mill in Niagara Falls, NY until its closing, and afterwards the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. also in Niagara Falls until his retirement in 1985. Delmar enjoyed spending time in the outdoors and was passionate about hunting and fishing. He was also a member of the Niagara County Sportsman Club.

In addition to his wife of fifty six years, Mr. Harrington is survived by two children, Dale (Barbara) Harrington of Norfolk, VA and Lynn (David) Gierach of Lewiston, NY; four grandchildren, Susan (Canus) Peet, Amanda Harrington, Adam (Kristen) Gierach and Jill (fiancé Joseph Wallace) Gierach, two great-grandchildren, Abigail Peet and Eva Rose Peet, one sister Eleanor (Jack) Ritter of Washington, one aunt Janet Morgan of Niagara Falls, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by one brother, Joshua (Margaret of South Carolina) Harrington and one sister Janet (Paul of Tucson, AZ) Dzing.

There will be no prior visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family.
