Dolores J. "Dorie" Mezhir, 77, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Tuesday November 10, 2009 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Manhattan, New York City, she was the daughter of the late Sheehan and Jamille (Haick) Eassa.

Dolores graduated from William Howard Taft High School in the Bronx, New York City. On September 17, 1949 she married Albert P. Mezhir at Sacred Heart Church in Niagara Falls, NY and in 1951 they came to Niagara Falls where she resided until the present time. Mr. Mezhir predeceased her on November 23, 1997. Dorie, as she was known to family and friends, was employed as a cashier at the former Slipko Brothers in Niagara Falls and later as a lunch associate at Harry F. Abate School for the Niagara Falls Board of Education also in Niagara Falls.

Dolores was a longtime active member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church and the St. George's Women's Antiochian Club. She was also a founding president and member of the St. George's Church Seniors Social Club and a former member of their women's mothers club. Dolores also held memberships in several other organizations including the Echoda Club, the DeVeaux Senior Social Club, the 50 Plus Social Club, Reunited Seniors and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Moose Lodge Local 838 all in Niagara Falls.

Dorie loved music and in her younger years she sang at CBS Studios and Radio City Music Hall both in New York City. She enjoyed bowling and participated in various local senior leagues. She also loved to bake Lebanese pastries, but most of all, Dolores' life centered on her family and she especially liked spending time with her granddaughter.

Mrs. Mezhir is survived by one daughter Candice 'Candy' (Ronald) Masset of Lewiston, NY; one granddaughter Amanda Masset of Niagara Falls, NY; one sister Lily (late Habib) Kinan of Niagara Falls, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by four sisters Betty (late Ralph) Romero, Mary (late Irving) Kaufman, Lydia (late Frank) Bezares and Viola (late Ben) Galabinski.

Friends may call on Friday from 3 – 8 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where services will begin on Saturday November 14th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. in St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 1073 Saunders Settlement Road, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Paul Solberg and The Very Rev. George Aswad officiating. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 1073 Saunders Settlement Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14305.
