Domenico "Dom" Romeo, 79, of Town of Niagara, NY passed away suddenly Tuesday April 13, 2010 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY.

Born and educated in Siderno, Reggio, Calabria, Italy, he was the son of the late Francesco and Maria Romeo. Dom arrived in the United States at Ellis Island in 1950, and settled in Niagara Falls, NY. In 1953, he married Mary (Senese) Romeo in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Mr. Romeo owned and operated Dom's Atlantic Station on the corner of Niagara Falls Boulevard and Military Road in Niagara Falls from 1968 until the early 2000's. Prior to that, he operated gas stations at Pine Avenue and 29th Street, and on Niagara Street in Niagara Falls. He also co-owned M & R Insulation.

In his early years he enjoyed hunting, traveling to Italy, and gardening. Dom was a member of the Cristoforo Colombo Society in Niagara Falls, NY, a former member of the Knights of Columbus, and a 32nd Degree Mason. Most importantly, Dom enjoyed spending time with his family. For the past fifteen years, Dom and his wife have enjoyed spending the winter months with their many friends in Fort Myers, FL.

In addition to his wife of fifty-six years, he is survived by a son Frank (Franca) Romeo of Town of Niagara, NY and a daughter Maria (Vince) DiMura of Grand Island, NY; four grandchildren Stefania Romeo, Domenic Romeo, Jacquelyn DiMura and Matthew DiMura; a brother Guiseppe Romeo of Italy, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 – 8 p.m. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin Friday April 16th at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Rd, Niagara Falls, NY. Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
