Obituary

Domenico passed away on October 13, 2026, at the age of 96. His life was a testament to hard work, perseverance, and devotion to family. Born in Caltavuturo, Palermo, Sicily, he was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Ruggirello) Chiappone. Domenico immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of 16, following the passing of his father.

In 1953, Dom married the love of his life, Dorothy Spina in St. Joseph’s Church. Together they built a life centered on family, love, and lasting memories. Their marriage was one of his greatest treasures, and he is now reunited with his beloved wife. Domenico proudly served in the National Guard before beginning a 36-year career at DuPont.

One of his proudest accomplishments was building his own home, which was featured in the newspaper in an article titled “In The House That Dad Built.” His talent and dedication extended far beyond his own home. He went on to build homes for each of his three daughters and helped countless other family members and friends with building homes and projects. He also spent years working at The Como Restaurant, repairing and fixing whatever needed attention. Whether at work, at home, or helping someone else, Domenico took pride in everything he did and was someone others could always count on.

Above all, Dom was proud of his family. He was the loving father of three daughters, Diane (Greg) Ziegler, Carol (John) Kajfasz, and Donna (Mario) Antonacci; the cherished grandfather of nine granddaughters, Amanda (Jason Watrous) Ziegler, Amelia (Justin) Watrous, Morgan (Charles Seefeldt) Ziegler, Morissa Ziegler, Krista (Brock Bannon) Kajfasz, Deanna (DJ) Virtuoso, Alexa (Daniel) Barrancotta, Alyssa (Martin) DeRosa and Aubree (Tristan) Diez. He was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren; and is also survived by one brother, Anthony (Sally) Chiappone, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Dorothy, and his parents, he was also predeceased by two siblings, Patsy Chiappone and Tana Migliazzo.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dom’s remarkable life on Saturday, October 17 at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. Interment will be held privately in St. Joseph Cemetery. Flowers are graciously declined.
