Obituary

Dominic Milicia of Niagara Falls, NY passed from this life into his eternal home on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, six weeks shy of his 100th birthday. Born in San Pier Niceto, Messina, Sicily, he was the son of the late Pietro and Petronilla (Catanese) Milicia.

In1937, at the age of 16, he immigrated to the United States with his father and his brother Peter, and settled in Niagara Falls, NY. In 1944, during World War II, Dominic enlisted into the United States Army and served until his honorable discharge in 1946.

Dominic married his beloved wife, Carmela (Pitrone) Milicia in their hometown of San Pier Niceto on September 19, 1948. They returned to Niagara Falls and were blessed with five children who he adored, and they adored him in return. He took great pride in watching his family grow.Dominic and his brother owned and operated Vanity Cleaners and Tailoring on East Falls Street in Niagara Falls for many years.

Dominic was a hardworking, loving, and loyal man who had respect for everyone. He was also a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Mary's Church.

Dominic enjoyed sharing meals with his family and friends. He took pride in his lush vegetable garden, and enjoyed watching the Yankees, bowling and playing cards with his friends.

In addition to his devoted wife of 73 years, he is survived by his loving children, Petrina (Peter) Imbriano, Cecilia (Richard) Colosi, Catherine (John) Agugliaro, Peter (Cheryl) Milicia and Dominic (Deborah) Milicia; his cherished grandchildren, Christen (Aaron) Wheaton, Lauren (Ryan) Undercoffer, Jessica (Vincent) Terrana, Rosanne (Ryan) McDevitt, Richard (Stephanie) Colosi, Janelle (Alex) Bruno, Peter Agugliaro, Anthony Agugliaro, Mary Katherine (John) Thurber, Jeremy Milicia, Jordan Milicia, Andrew Milicia, Jenna (Matthew) Soulsby, Lindsay Milicia, Brianna (fiancé Zachary Eaglen) Milicia; fourteen great-grandchildren, and three more on the way. Dominic is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Peter (Angeline) Milicia, three sisters, Caterina (Giuseppe) Pitrone, Rosa (Giuseppe) Micale and Giuseppina (Leone) Pollicino.

Visitation will be on Sunday, August 1 from 4 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Dominic's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 2 at 1 PM in St. Mary's of the Cataract Church, 237 4th Street, Niagara Falls, NY. Please assemble at church. Military honors and entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
