Dominic F. Notarianni, 88 of Lewiston, NY passed away on September 11, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born July, 22, 1933 in Sambiase, Calabria, Italy, he was the son of the late Antonio and Teresa (Falvo) Notarianni.
Dominic was raised and educated in Italy. He immigrated to Canada at the age of 17 and worked at Gerber Baby Foods in Niagara Falls, Ontario. On February 19, 1955 he married Petrina L. (Spameni) Notarianni. Together they moved to Niagara Falls, NY and later settled in Lewiston. Petrina predeceased him on August 19, 2004. Dominic owned and operated Francesco's Hair Fashions on Center Street in the Village of Lewiston for over 50 years.
Dominic's charismatic personality was highlighted by an infectious smile and a quick wit. He was a gifted storyteller and enjoyed regaling family and friends with humorous anecdotes about his childhood in Italy and beyond. Dominic was extremely proud of his Italian heritage. He took great pleasure in cooking and eating Italian cuisine, as well as enjoying a glass of fine wine. He was a passionate fan of Serie A Italian Soccer League and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, traveling, and helping his children with home improvements. Above all, Dominic cherished holidays, family gatherings and spending time with his dear lifelong Canadian friends, Gino Giallonardo, Fernando Berlingeri and their families.
Dominic is survived by his four children, Teresa (Dominic) Guglielmi, Rosann (Nick) Sabha, Maryanne (Chris) Milne and Dominic (Heather) Notarianni, ten beloved grandchildren, Laura and Dominic Guglielmi, Nicholas Sabha, Natalie (Dan) Trapasso and Brandon Sabha, Loren and Jacquelyn Milne, Samantha, Alex and Lily Notarianni, two brothers, John Notarianni and Vince (Maria) Notarianni, cousin Joseph Falvo (whom he considered a brother), two sisters-in-law, Patricia Spameni and Esther Paonessa, his dear friend Margie and several loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was also predeceased by three brothers, Francesco, Giuseppe, Salvatore "Sam" and two sisters, Concetta and Giovanna.
There will be no prior visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday September 15th at 12 Noon at St. Peter's RC Church, 620 Center Street Lewiston. Private entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Flowers are graciously declined.
