Dominick Terrana Sr., 90, of Lewiston, NY, formerly of 69th Street in Niagara Falls, NY died on Friday November 12, 2010 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born in Punxsutawney, PA he was the son of the late Charles and Frances Terrana, Sr.
Dom was educated in Pennsylvania and moved to Niagara Falls, NY in 1941. During World War II he served as a United States Navy Seabee from May 20, 1944 until his honorable discharge on May 13, 1946. He was involved in the Okinawa Campaign and awarded the Pacific Theater Ribbon with 1 Star, American Theater Ribbon and WWII Victory Medal. In February of 1949 Dom married Elizabeth "Betty" (Fonzo) Terrana at Sacred Heart Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mrs. Terrana predeceased him on November 21, 1983. Dominick was employed in the Carbon Products Division of Union Carbide in Niagara Falls for forty four years and retired in 1985. He was a member of the Volare Lodge, the Sacred Heart Prayer Group both in Niagara Falls and the Buffalo Cursillo Movement. Dom was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. In his leisure time he also enjoyed dancing and tending to his tomato garden.
Mr. Terrana is survived by three sons, Dominick (Kathleen) Terrana, Jr., Deacon Gary (Gail) Terrana and Carl (Linda) Terrana all of Niagara Falls, NY; his grandchildren, Dominick (Lori) Terrana III , Joseph (Denise) Terrana, Gary (Abigale) Terrana, Angela Terrana, Nicole Terrana, Lisa (Bradley) Dixon, John Stanton and Rick (Gina) Stanton, nine great-grandchildren, Holly, Dominick IV and Samuel Terrana, Gianni, Joseph Michael and Jaden Terrana, Addison Terrana, Haley Dixon and Joseph Stanton, three sisters, Anna (late Fred) Falcone, Mary (late Alfo) DiStefano both of Florida, Joanne (Ercole) DiStefano of Michigan, his twin brother Angelo Terrana of New York, and brother Frank Terrana of Pennsylvania, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by three brothers, Steven Terrana, Charles Terrana, Jr. and Anthony Terrana.
There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday November 16th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Vincent DePaul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 North Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Robert Hughson officiating. Military Honors will follow. EVERYONE WILL ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
