Donald J. Fleischman, 78, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on June 8, 2024 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Kenmore, NY surrounded by his loving family while under the care of Hospice Buffalo.  Born in Lackawanna, NY, he was the son of the late Chester and Helen (Augustyniak) Fleischman.

Donald dedicated his life to his family and community. After graduating from SUNY Buffalo with his two Master's Degree in English and Library Studies, Donald was employed for 30 years at the Niagara Falls Public Library until his retirement in 2001. His last position there was Assistant Director. On April 25, 1981, he married Carol (Chiodo) Fleishman.  Together, they shared 43 years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Donald and Carol were fortunate to travel and have many friends.  Aside from being a hardworking man, Donald also enjoyed gardening, crafting, swimming, and cycling on his tandem bike with his wife.

Donald will be remembered most for his gentleness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Donald is survived by his wife, Carol; his grandson, Dr.  Justin Wong; his siblings, Chester (Terry) Fleischman Jr., and Judith (Donald) Constantino; his brother-in-law, David Chiodo (Amy Rushing); his sister-in-law, Anne Craggs; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Donald was predeceased by his sister, Betty (Walter) Megger.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 13 from 10 – 11:30 AM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304, where funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM.  Private interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Seeing Eye, Inc.
