Donald B. Keil, 79, of Wheatfield, NY died on Wednesday April 8, 2009 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY following a lengthy battle with lung disease, while under the care of Hospice and his loving family. Born in Buffalo, NY he was the son of the late Henry and Phyllis (Tinney) Keil.
Donald attended local schools in Buffalo, NY and was a resident of the Wheatfield area for forty years. During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Army and was the recipient of a Purple Heart award. He was a truck driver and member of the Teamsters Union of Buffalo, NY for thirty two years until retiring in 1986. Donald was an avid golfer and also enjoyed bowling, playing cards and traveling with his family.
Mr. Keil is survived by his wife of forty two years, Dorothy (Schafer) Keil, their many children Debra (Ronald) Biggs of the Town of Niagara, Judie (Robert) Daves of Central Point, OR, Ronald (Francine) O'Mara of the Town of Wheatfield, Robert (Betty) O'Mara of Cedar Rapids, IA and was predeceased by one son Paul (Rose Ann of Amherst, NY) O'Mara. He is also survived by many grandchildren, many great grandchildren; one brother Robert Keil of North Tonawanda, NY; one brother-in-law Jerry (Alice) Schafer of Reno, NV and many nieces and nephews.
