Donald K. Smith, 90, of the Town of Wheatfield, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Kenmore Mercy Hospital. Born in Brunswick, ME, he was the son of the late Avery P. and Hazel J. (Fickett) Smith.

Don served in the United States Army from 1950 until his honorable discharge in 1952.  In 1954, he married Frances D. (Jagodzinski) Smith, who predeceased him on September 1, 1996.   He moved to Niagara Falls in 1952 and began working at the International Paper Mill for 15 years. He was employed at the Carborundum Company, where he worked a store keeper for 28 years until his retirement in 1991.

Don was a member of the Buff Social Club and enjoyed collecting and restoring antique cars as well as going to classic car shows.

Mr. Smith is survived by his daughter, Debra (George) Walker; three grandchildren, Kimberlee (Nicole) Hoyt-Folaron, Donald (Jennifer) Hoyt and Derek Hoyt, as well as his great-grandchildren, Sara, Sean, Mia, Rose, and Angel.  In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Marion Smith.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 27 from 4 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304 where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM.  Interment with Military Honors in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Veteran's Administration.  Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
